Community

At Cornerstone we talk a lot about 'community' whether we are talking about an up-and-coming project or even a job title it's a normal part of everyday language. This theme in our conversation stems from an even bigger vision. A vision of community thriving throughout our city.

But what does community really mean?

Following on from a pandemic year where we hear the word 'lockdown' spoken on the airwaves or the street more than anything else; community as we know it has certainly been challenged! From events being cancelled, to not being able to socialise with friends or stray too far from home, it has opened our eyes to what is on our doorstep, who is on our doorstep and also, more importantly, who we dearly miss spending time with. Community has been something we may have previously taken for granted. We could say that our definition of community has shifted over the year and our appreciation of those interactions that contribute to a sense of community has increased. As we begin to emerge from lockdown, it is this appreciation that we get to step into, embracing it for the life it gives and the life that you bring to it by being a part of it.

Community is without question central to human experience. Being part of a community gives us a sense of belonging. Where we belong, that's where we call home! Community is central to our wellbeing and brings life!

At Cornerstone, this is where our vision for Community Life draws from - a vision of facilitating strong connections within communities. Helping neighbours engage with each other, whilst engaging with their local area. Gaining a sense of healthy pride for where they belong. Embracing the spirit of loving their neighbour and in the process being a part of something much bigger than themselves.

In community we come alive; we support, empower, share, create, learn, and grow.

It starts with simply 'loving your neighbour'.
